The legend of Wairaka | |
A time before this time there was a tribe cold the Ngati awa they were on a voyage there waka was humongous. the beach that they had ended on a magnificent beach with dazzling white sand there were pohutukawa trees all around so the men went on to the beach and the women stayed on the waka with the children.
Then a crazy storm came out of nowhere Tossing and turning. Wairaka thought the boat was going to capsize as the waves come crashing into the waka from the storm ahede. “Look out” she screamed “get the chelgren to the middle of the waka. I need to do something”. The wind blows in her hair. Moisture and static electricity is in the ear. You can tell it is going to be a big storm. she's panicking, her heart thumps in her chest like a stamped of elephants they started to drift towards big sharp rocks.
She freeze's, there are no men that is obvious but she wonder if she could use the padil, she start to reach for “what are you doing?!” called one of the men but wiraka could barely hear him so she pretended that she didn't here him wiraka grabbed the padil (to tuch apadil was conceded tupo for a women)
she screams “kia whakatane au i ahau” and posht the canoe to safety. back on the beach everyone was releve, you could just see it on their faces...
she could hear cheering and looked around and relisted that they wore cherin for her!? her father gave wiraka a hug and was proud. shye went on many more advehis but those are for another day but they did decide to live on the beach despite the weather. |
